来週はなんと・・・　イースターです！！！

イースターはクリスチャン最大のお祭り♪
Easter is a great Christian Celebration!!!　

西洋社会の多くでは、イースターの時期になると、イースター休暇があったり、チョコエッグを配ったり、イースターのお祭りがあったり・・・かなり盛り上がるんだけど・・・
In most Western nations, they have Easter holidays, Easter eggs and Easter shows/festivals but...　

日本ってイースターの認知度が低いっ！！！
most of the Japanese have no clue about Easter!!!

イースターって何！？　っていう人少なくないはず。
So many people say, "What's Easter?"

というわけで、イースターにむけてイースターシリーズしちゃいまあす！！　今日は豆知識編です。
So for these couple of days, I'm going to have EASTER series..! Today I'm going to write about Easter Facts.

Qそもそもイースターって何なの？So what's Easter about anyway!?

A: イースターはキリストの復活を祝う日。日本語では『復活祭』と言います。イエス・キリストが十字架にかけられたのちに、3日後によみがえったことから『復活祭』と呼ばれています。
A: On Easter Sunday, Christians celebrate the resurrection of Jesus. Jesus came back to life, or was raised from the dead, three days after his death on the cross.

Q去年と今年、イースターの日付が違うんだけど・・・毎年イースターの日付って変わるの？
イースターの日付は「春分後、最初の満月の後の日曜日」と定められているため、年によって最大1ヶ月程度のずれが生じる。今年は3月23日。
In Western Christianity, Easter is always celebrated on the Sunday immediately following the Paschal Full Moon.Therefore it's different every year. This year, Easter Sunday is on 23rd March.

「卵とうさぎ」 "Eggs and Rabbits"

Q なぜ店頭に卵の形をしたチョコレートが並ぶの？
Why do we see egg-shaped chocolates in stores during Easter?

卵は「新しい生命」の象徴であることから、イースターのシンボルとなった。元々は、明るい色や模様を施した卵をプレゼントしあう習慣だったが、20世紀に入ってからは卵の形のチョコレートが主流となったらしい。
Eggs are said to be a symbol of "New Life." Originally people used to exchange real decorated eggs. but since the 20th century, chocolate eggs became popular.

Q　なんでうさぎなの！？　Why rabbits?

うさぎが多産であることから、生命のシンボルとして選ばれたといわれている。 また実を結ぶという意味があるんだって。
Rabbits are said to be a symbol of fruitfulness and fertility.

Q　イースターでは何をするの？ 
教会での礼拝の後、家族で集まり、カードやプレゼントを交換したり、卵やロースト・ラムなどのイースター料理を食べたりする。しかしクリスチャンんではない人行楽シーズンとして捉えている人が多い。
Christians usually go to church on Easter Sunday and after that they get together with families, exchange cards and presents and enjoy Easter Feast (eggs, Roast lambs etc). For those who are not Christians, they enjoy Easter as one of the holidays. 

Q　イースターならではのゲームってある？　
Are there any Easter-related games ?

人気なのは、エッグハントやエッグロールというゲーム。エッグハントは、庭や公園にカラフルにイースターエッグを隠し、見つけるゲーム。エッグロールは、イースターエッグを割らないように坂の上から転がすゲームです。
The popluar ones are Egg-hunt and Egg-roll. For egg-hunt, people have to find the hidden colorful eggs. Often people play this game in the park or in the garden. Egg-roll is a game that you roll the eggs from the hill without breaking it.

Q　私クリスチャンじゃないけど、イースターで何かできる？
Hey, I'm not a Christian, but can I do something for Easter???
