The Lost Son Production

Yesterday at church, we did THE LOST SON skit :)

I was surprised to see how good the acting was!!

The parable of the Prodigal Son in Luke 15:11-32 is a story about God’s grace, unconditional love and forgiveness.  It is about God seeking the lost.

In Luke 15, Jesus tells about the youngest son coming to his father to ask for his inheritance ahead of time.  He then took the inheritance and ran away to spend it all on having a good time.

He had plenty of “friends” to help him spend it but quickly ran out of his inheritance funds.

The son was in trouble.  He had no money, no place to live, he had nothing to eat, so he had to get a job.  He was so hungry he started eating gross food. He was miserable.

Then the son remembered that when he lived with his father even the hired men had more food than they needed, and now he was starving to death.

At that moment he made a decision.  He would go back to his father's house and say to him, 'I have sinned against God and against you.  I don't deserve to be called your son, so hire me and I will work for you."

When he came back home, his father came running up to him saying, "My son! My son! You are finally home!"  He couldn't believe it.  His father threw his arms around him and kissed him.

But the son was shocked. He quickly said, "Father, I have sinned against God and against you.  I don't deserve to be called your son..."

The son wanted to continue but the father said to one of his servants, "Quick!  Bring the best robe and put it on him.  Put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet.  Bring the biggest calf and kill it.  Let's have a party and celebrate because my son was lost and is found!"

The older son was outraged. He refused to go join the party.  He said to his father,
"Look!  I have been working for you all these years and I've never disobeyed you.  Yet you never had a big party for me to celebrate with my friends.  But now my younger brother has come home, spent all the money you gave him, and you kill the biggest calf for him!"

"But, my son," the father said, "you are always with me, and everything I have is yours.  We had to celebrate and be glad because this brother of yours was lost and now he is found."

"The Lost Son" in the Bible is a great example of the kind of relationship that God wants to have with us.

Most of us can probably relate to the younger son, who makes huge mistakes and is ashamed to face his father again. We've all made mistakes and been faced the miserable point in our lives. The lost son even goes so far as to believe that he no longer deserves to be his father's son.

The father in the story is just like God.  God doesn't give up on us when we do things that are wrong, and he will always forgive us if we've truly changed and repent (turn from our way to His way) for what we've done.

The father's heart was aching for the lost son. And the moment he saw him from a far distance, he rushed over toward him, embraced him and kissed him. Wow !! What a father. He didn't even point his finger, instead he had a feast prepared. This is God's forgiveness and grace.

If you are the lost son today, this is want I want to say to you.

God misses you. God is dying to see you. God is waiting for you to return to him! He will forgive you and give you a brand new start if you choose to go back to His way.

Jesus died for your sins. The Bible says we've all blown it. We've all made mistakes like this lost son. None of us is perfect.  I don't measure up to my own standards much less God's. We have all sinned.

BUT here's the good news: Everything you've ever done wrong, everything you're ever going to do wrong, things you haven't even thought of yet, all those sins have already been paid for by Jesus as he died on the cross. And the story doesn't end here! He rose from the dead to show that Hehas conquered death!

Jesus died on the cross for you so that you can come back to God. To show you how much God values you. It shows how much you matter to God.

If you want to have a relationship with God just like the lost son and his father,

You just need to step in and truly accept God’s gift -- His Son, Jesus Christ.

If you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and  believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved (Romans 10:9)

Receiving Jesus is a matter of truly asking Him to come into your life, to forgive your sins, and to become your Lord and Savior. This means having a relationship with him and following him for the rest of your life.

I made this decision 6 years ago to receive Jesus and follow him for the rest of my life but...

I've never regret it!

Slowly yet surely Jesus changed me. He filled me with JOY, PEACE and LOVE so I can love myself and others.... and he has become my FOUNDATION.

Even you become a Christian, tough things still happen sometimes but you can stand strong because you have a STRONG FOUNDATION! And we always have HOPE.
